How easy is it to download a chart with TIMEZERO

Finding a chart that is right for you is no easy feat. Even if you know where you are planning to sail. There are Wide charts and then MegaWide charts that cover vast spaces such as the entire Mediterranean Sea. Each area will usually have 1 raster chart provide and 2 vector chart providers which is great because you can choose either by which chart type you prefer using or by which one is most up-to-date. Check out this other blog article on this topic: https://blog.mytimezero.com/2012/04/11/vector-or-raster-marine-navigation-charts/

Once you have found the chart that is right for you, you will need to download it, as well as the 3D data and satellite photos for each section of the chart (which maybe divided up into smaller pieces). Remember that you need to download each file if you want to get the most out of TZ Navigator such as the Advanced Safety Routing and Security Cone.

All our retailers have great knowledge on what charts are most accurate and up-to-date for their zone so drop by your closest retailer using this tool: https://mytimezero.com/find-a-reseller

The chart catalog provides charts around the world so you will always find one that is perfect for you. The chart catalog allows you to see all the chart zones around the world. The fields can be changed to select Wide or MegaWide and chart type: Raster or Vector.

Visit the chart catalog.

One great thing about the chart catalog is that you can download a chart either before or after purchase which serves to provide an unblock code. If it’s a NOAA chart for America  then you can download the chart free of charge.

If you have found a great chart and want to start planning a route out on it straight away then go to our webstore:

Tip: If you already have TZ Navigator software, when navigating through the webstore don’t forget to enter your TIMEZERO serial number for customized offers.

You will find again the chart area preview and data in the webstore before confirming your acquisition.

If you need help navigating the store then watch this video tutorial.

Return to the chart catalog and use the ref. number to quickly locate your chart. For example: WVJEWM226MAP12.1

When the download is complete, you will need to save all chart files in the dedicated folder of your software “My Documents/My TimeZero/Downloaded Charts”. This way, all data will be directly integrated and you will be able to visualize chart and navigation data all together in the intuitive TIMEZERO interface.

Congratulations on getting this far. Now the next time you start the software, it will automatically scan this folder and ask if you want to install the charts. You have the following three options:

  • Click on the “Install All” button to install all the files that you have downloaded.
  • Click on the “Install” button to control and install each file individually.
  • Click on the “Ignore” button to cancel the installation. This can be useful if you want to pre-install charts before receiving the codes. As soon as you receive them, TIMEZERO can automatically complete the installation itself.

When the chart has been successfully installed the chart will no longer appear in the downloaded charts folder.

Congratulations on downloading your charts! Now you can start planning the trip! You can consult your personal chart catalog within your TIMEZERO by clicking on the menu in the top left hand corner and selecting the option “chart catalog”.
